UNDERSTANDING FRAME SIZE
LENS WIDTH
40 - 62 MM
It indicates the horizontal length of one lens of the eyewear that ranges from 40 mm to 62 mm. For eyeglasses, the average is 49 mm to 51 mm while for sunglasses, the average goes up by at least 2 mm to accommodate more coverage
BRIDGE SIZE
14 - 25 MM
It denotes the distance between the two lenses that ranges from 14 mm to 25 mm, the average size being 18 mm to 21 mm. A bridge with nose pads, however, should be preferred over one without them as it allows for a more precise fit
TEMPLE LENGTH
120 - 150 MM
It is the measurement of the length of either arms of the eyewear that wrap the ears and hold the frame. The average adult length ranges between 145 mm to 148 mm. Only if you have an exceptionally small or large face, should you consider a specific temple length
SELECTING GLASSES WITH THE BEST FIT
While our style consultants and technicians are always there to assist you to curate the ideal pair for you, there are a few rules of the thumb you should look out for while shortlisting through the gamut of options available.
- The centre of the lens should more or less coincide with your pupils
- The width of the frame should not extend past the the width of your face
- The eyebrows should not be covered with your eyeglasses and in the case of sunglasses, should be wholly covered or not covered at all
- The fit should feel comfortable; neither so loose that they slide down the nose nor so tight that they press against the cheeks leaving a mark
